DescriptionParaView 2 had a feature where it constantly wrote the user's actions into a script file. Although the use of this script file was stretched a bit (the dialog box was confusing and reloading the script hardly ever worked right), it at least gave us something the users could submit to let us know what was happening when the error occurred.

We don't quite have the same functionality in ParaView 3 because the old scripts were Tcl, which we no longer support. However, we do have a "Record Test" functionality. We could use that to always be recording into a special file. If a crash occurs, PV can silently copy that file to a special location to capture the conditions of the crash. If the user later reports the crash but cannot give specifics of what was going on, we can instruct them to submit that file.
