what is VTK? I mean, is it an environment (like IDL, MATLAB,....)

which, one can build his own programs? or vtk is only a DLL library +

Source code, that one can use incorporating them into it own C++<br>
projects? I know, my question is trivial for vtk accustomed users,
but<br>
if vtk is:<br><br>
1) an environment, where can I find the executable (vtk.exe) in the<br>
vtk packages?<br><br>
2) DLL library + Source code, how can I do use them after have<br>
installed the DLL library in my system directory

on Windows2000 NT?<br><br>
