rendered volume in memory :: Help Needed

Hi all,
Is there any way to store
the entire volume, after rendering, into a buffer. I have applied MIP on the
volume and rendered the volume. Now i want to store the rendered volume
into a buffer for further processing. If i give 5 images as input then i
should able to store all the 5 rendered images in buffer. Is there any
function which will help me in this regard.
