Thank you for the prompt replies. That should help me start converting all the dxf's I currently have. My question now is, why is there <br>no dxf reader for vtk. Is it because of legal reasons, or just the amount of user demand for the reader is low?

vtk supports a number of 3D file formats including VRML, OBJ, and 3DS. There are many free convertes available on the internet (one of which is ObjConverter). You can get any one of these convertes to convert your files and then load them into vtk
