You can use SetPosition in vtkTextActor to place a string everywhere in the image. For file writing, why not using vtkWindowToImageFilter?<br><br>BTW, I sent a mail mentioning a segfault caused by vtkTextActor ("<font size="2"><span id=":1p5" class="hP">vtkTextActor segfaults my render window")</span></font>. Did you try to use it? Am I the only one?<br>

If you are displaying the image, I realize vtkTextActor and<br>
vtkTextSource exist. However, is there something more like<br>
vtkImageCanvasSource2D that will allow you to add a character or<br>
string at a pixel location (and actually store these changed pixels in<br>
the image so it can be written to a file).<br>
