Summary0011466: Release pre-built libraries following release schedule
DescriptionOf course we can't support every possible system, but a pre-built version of the library for a basic Linux setup, and the most common Visual Studio setup would allow many users to get started much faster.

Dave Partyka supports this idea (please assign it to him).

Also (related), the Windows binaries that only allow the user to run Tcl scripts:

Windows (Installer) vtk-5.6.1-win32.exe

are a big source of confusion. If it is predicted that it is actually used, it should be much more clearly labeled explaining exactly what it is. If not (which would be my guess) it should be removed, or at least pushed way to the bottom of the list of downloads (rather than first, where it is now).
