Tried to replicate the problem on Linux and Windows 7 without luck. Please reopen if you continue to have this issue but please return the results from:

glxinfo and glewinfo.

Would you be able to provide a back trace from gdb on the crash, as I am still unable to replicate. Also the CMakeCache would be nice too.

From the dbg I have not received any new information.
I compiled the debug profile and run "dbg ./paraview". Results is:

When attached with gdb and the crash happens capture the output of the backtrace command ( bt ).
